Škoda has revealed the Vision O concept - this will be the next generation of the Octavia
At the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show in Munich, the Vision O concept - an electric station wagon that actually foreshadows the next Octavia - made its debut.
Here's What We Know
The new Vision O concept proves that Skoda Auto still believes in station wagons. The low-profile car foreshadows the production Octavia, which is due by 2028 and will be a close relative of the upcoming VW ID. Golf.
Like the ID. Golf, the Octavia will be electric, and the Vision O's long roofline suggests it will be available in both a practical station wagon body and a liftback version. Why is Skoda tackling these cars in the SUV era? Because the current Octavia is the brand's best-selling model.
Skoda designers have applied the latest Modern Solid styling to the Vision O. While some elements of the concept, such as the 3D-printed honeycomb headrests, are pure motor show theatrics, overall, the concept is in line with the upcoming production model. It is expected to arrive in 2028.
Inside, instead of a traditional dashboard, a 1.2-metre (47.2-inch) wide Horizon Display is mounted behind the steering wheel. This element occupies almost the entire width of the car at the base of the windscreen. There's a vertical touchscreen above the centre console, and even lower down there's a rotary mode selector with haptic feedback and two wireless charging pads for gadgets. If you're too lazy to twist a knob, Laura AI's voice-activated digital assistant can do some of the work.
At 4,850mm long, the Vision O is 152mm longer than the current-generation Octavia station wagon, but still smaller than the flagship Superb. The huge boot holds 650 litres with the seats up. In keeping with the Simply Clever tradition, the concept car's creators have included a portable Bluetooth speaker, an integrated fridge and four umbrellas as accessories.
Whether these functions will be realised in a serial car, and also what capacity and a range reserve will be able to provide platform SSP, Skoda does not inform. But we are reportedly in store for 800-volt charging technology and advanced software developed in conjunction with Rivian.
