Hyundai has unveiled the Concept Three at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. This spectacular electric hatchback is a prototype of the future Ioniq 3. The latter, in turn, is focused on Europe and aims to compete with the future Volkswagen Golf on electric traction.

Here's What We Know

In terms of dimensions (4,288 mm in length), the Concept Three fits into the compact class. The Art of Steel-inspired design combines a coupé-like silhouette with the practicality of a five-door hatchback. The low nose, sloping roofline and sharp stern cut are striking, reminiscent of the 2008 Honda Civic. Hyundai's signature pixelated optics have been given a new gradient design.

As it is due to the concept, some details - like "gull wings" for rear doors - will remain the highlight of the exhibition model. But the overall dynamic shape and individual elements, such as the diffuser or transparent spoiler, may well transfer to the production Ioniq 3, including in the prospective sporty N version.

The interior shows an unusual approach: instead of giant displays, there is minimalism and a "bring your own screen" philosophy, allowing users to install their own gadgets. The interior features drop-top armchairs made of eco-friendly materials.

Specifications have not yet been revealed, but it is expected to utilise Kia's EV3 platform with 400-volt architecture. Buyers are likely to be offered single and dual electric motor versions, as well as two battery versions. The long-range one will provide a range of over 600 kilometres.

Production of the Ioniq 3 for Europe is scheduled to start in 2027.
