Crusader Kings III has received a major Coronations add-on and a free update
Paradox Interactive has released the next add-on for the popular historical 4X-strategy Crusader Kings III called Coronations.
Here's What We Know
DLC is available only on PC and adds lavish ceremonies of ascension to the throne and related state management mechanics to the game.
The main features of the Coronations add-on are:
- New "Coronation" activity - players can organise grand ceremonies, gathering vassals and guests to legitimise their rule. Selected "Intentions" - from wanting to impress the public to weakening enemies - will influence the course of events.
- "Vows of Rule": after coronation, a ruler may make vows - such as to expand the kingdom, delve deeper into religion, or improve the development of the country. Successful fulfilment will bring bonuses, while failure will bring reputational loss.
- "Manipulation and Intrigue": the coronation ceremony is not just a celebration, but an opportunity to strengthen positions, undermine the reputation of rivals, or even eliminate them physically.
- "Choice of the Coroner": from priest to independent laying, the decision affects prestige and consequences.
Overall, Coronations was part of the fourth chapter of Crusader Kings III's content plan, along with the massive For All Under Heaven expansion covering East Asia.
The addition accompanies the release of the free 1.17.0 update, which slightly tweaks game mechanics and fixes bugs. The list of major changes can be found on the Crusader Kings III page on Steam.
