It's official: iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and Apple's other updated operating systems will be released on 15 September (list of supported devices)

At its big annual presentation, Apple not only unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple has updated its line of smartwatches, introducing three models at once: Watch Series 11, Watch SE 3 and Watch Ultra 3 and AirPods Pro 3, but also announced the release date for new versions of its own operating systems.

Here's What We Know

The American corporation announced that iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26 and macOS 26 Tahoe will become available on 15 September, simultaneously with the release of iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max.

iOS 26 will be available for:

  • all iPhones 17 ship with the new firmware;
  • iPhone 11 and newer;
  • iPhone SE 2 and newer.

The macOS update will get:

  • all MacBook Air and Pro on Apple Silicon (starting 2020);
  • certain Intel-powered models: MacBook Pro 16" (2019), MacBook Pro 13" (2020), iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro (starting in 2019).

WatchOS 26 will be available on:

  • Apple Watch SE (2nd generation);
  • Series 6 and newer;
  • all versions of Apple Watch Ultra.

iPadOS 26 will get:

  • iPad Pro (on the M4 chip);
  • iPad Air (M2 and M3);
  • iPad mini (on A17 Pro);
  • iPad 5th generation and newer.

Apple has not yet announced an exact release date for tvOS 26. The release is expected to take place in autumn, possibly alongside the new Apple TV.
