Insider: all Resident Evil games created on the RE Engine will get native versions for Nintendo Switch 2
Almost all major companies are keen to port their games to the popular Nintendo Switch 2 console and Capcom is no exception. New information that appeared in the network indicates that the Japanese developer will release six of its horror games on the new platform at once.
Here's What We Know
Authoritative insider Dusk Golem revealed that all Resident Evil games developed on the RE Engine will receive native versions for Nintendo Switch 2. This includes remakes of the second, third and fourth instalments, as well as Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village and a new game subtitled Requiem, which will release on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and, as it turns out, Switch 2.
Some of the games mentioned, such as Resident Evil 7, have previously been available on the past Nintendo Switch model, but they utilise cloud-based technology to run, which requires a stable and fairly powerful internet connection and also suffers from significant input lag.
If the technical capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 are enough to natively run such technologically advanced games, it would be great news for gamers and an indication of the console's high quality.
Resident Evil for Nintendo Switch 2 will probably be announced at the Nintendo Direct show on 12 September.
