Back in 2023, spy photographers spotted a prototype that looked like an electric RS6, but now it has been revealed that the model will not appear in this form. According to Top Gear sources, Audi has abandoned the RS6 E-Tron project due to insufficient demand.

Here's What We Know

The company does not comment directly on the rumours, but said that they continue to work on sporty versions based on the PPE architecture, developed together with Porsche. The Macan EV and Audi Q6 E-Tron are already built on this platform, and in the future it can give up to 700 hp.

Audi already has a powerful electric car RS E-Tron GT with 925 hp and acceleration from a place to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, so the place for another extreme electric model, especially a station wagon, remains doubtful.

At the same time, the brand is rumoured to be preparing a new generation RS6 with an internal combustion engine. This version is unlikely to match the electric car in terms of power, but may get an inline six-cylinder engine with a hybrid superstructure. No details have been revealed yet, but it will be a top-of-the-range version of the A6.
