Unprecedented case: artificial intelligence to lead Albania's public procurement ministry
Many countries are introducing artificial intelligence into various government bodies to advise and speed up their work. However, Albania has gone a step further and appointed an AI as a minister!

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, announced that an AI bot named Diella has taken over as the head of the Ministry of Public Procurement.
In this way, the government expects to eliminate the possibility of corruption, intimidation, bribery, blackmail and other illegal actions that could influence the decision of the head of the ministry.

The chatbot Diella (translated as "Sun") exists solely in the digital space, has no physical embodiment and will only award contracts and procure within set parameters, which is expected to make tenders as transparent as possible.
Diella was previously used in the e-Albania app to provide electronic government services.
It is not yet clear who will oversee Diella's work and whether its decisions are subject to appeal.
