Stellantis announced Friday that it is completely abandoning its electric pickup truck project, which was supposed to be the longest-range and most powerful in the segment. The development of the model is halted due to a decline in demand for battery-powered "trucks" in North America.

Here's What We Know

Initially, the premiere of the battery-powered pickup was supposed to take place in 2024, but the terms were postponed several times: first to 2025, then to 2026, and then to 2027. Now the project is closed finally. According to the plan, this model was to receive batteries in versions for 168 and 229 kWh, with a range of 350 and 500 miles (563 and 805 km), respectively.

The place of the all-electric pickup will be taken by the Ram 1500 REV - essentially the former Ramcharger, which is a REX version (Range Extended EV) with a 92 kWh battery, a 3.6 petrol V6, a 27-gallon (102 litre) petrol tank and two electric motors. In electric mode, the pickup travels about 145 miles (233 km), but together with the internal combustion engine, the total range reaches 690 miles (1,110 km). The power output of the model reaches 647 hp.

The Ram 1500 REV is scheduled to start sales in early 2026. Prices will be announced closer to the launch, but a minimum of $75,000 is expected.
