Korean media reports that Samsung has managed to establish production of the Exynos 2600 processor and is going to equip its next flagship Galaxy S26 with it. This correlates with the fact that we recently saw the results of the Exynos 2600 in the synthetic Geekbench test, in which it proved to be a worthy competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Exynos 2600 could be the first 2nm processor on the market.

Why It Matters

Samsung had difficulties with the development of modern technological processes, so the last two generations of the flagship Galaxy S line were released exclusively on Snapdragon processors. But buying processors from Qualcomm is more expensive than using its own, so the company tried to resume production of competitive processors. In addition, the downtime of production lines (Nvidia and Google also refused to produce at Samsung's factories) caused the company large losses. This year, Samsung's own problems were compounded by the US trade wars, which led Qialcomm to inform its partners about the rise in the price of future chips. Therefore, the Koreans were forced to launch the production of competitive processors as soon as possible or raise the prices of future flagships in January.

Catching up with competitors was not easy, with early prototypes of the Exynos 2600 experiencing problems with poor performance and overheating, but Samsung developed HPB technology, after which news reports of success in testing engineering samples of the processor were made.

It is expected that not all Galaxy S26 models will receive the Exynos 2600. The top-of-the-line S26 Ultra model will most likely get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the S26 Pro and S26 Edge will traditionally have Snapdragon variants for the US and Exynos 2600 for most other countries to keep the cost of the model down.
