Munich Airport has opened the largest charging park for electric cars in Bavaria
The largest public charging park for electric cars in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany has opened in car park P44 opposite the LabCampus at Munich Airport. The opening took place on 16 September with the participation of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder and the management of Flughafen München GmbH.
Here's What We Know
The new complex includes 275 charging points, 138 of them on level 04 of car park P44, with a capacity of up to 22 kW. The electricity comes from two solar systems on the roofs of car parks P44 and P43: a total of 7,216 modules with a total capacity of 3 MW have been installed - enough to supply around 1,000 households. The investment in the project totalled €5.2 million.

In total, more than 1,140 charging points are now available at the airport, including infrastructure for company vehicles. The airport's solar stations already generate up to 7 MW, and the capacity is planned to be increased to 50 MW by 2030. These measures are part of the Net Zero 2035 strategy, under which the airport aims to completely eliminate CO₂ emissions by 2035.
