On 16 September, two electric personal vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Xpeng Aeroht collided in mid-air at an airshow rehearsal in Changchun, China.

Here's What We Know

According to sources, one passenger was hospitalised with serious injuries as a result of the incident, but his life is not in danger.

The causes of the accident have not yet been disclosed. The vehicles are capable of autonomous and manual operation, so both technical failures and piloting errors are possible. The incident highlights the complexity of low-altitude airborne control and the importance of safety in eVTOL operations.

There has been no official comment from Xpeng Aeroht yet. Fortunately, the accident occurred during a rehearsal for the show and there are no injuries among the audience.
