Scandinavian axe - on the shelf! Kratos will get a "curved Egyptian sword" in the next God of War instalment
Not for the first year there are rumours that the next part of God of War will bring Kratos to the world of ancient Egyptian mythology, and the developers themselves several times hinted at such a possibility.
Authoritative insider Tom Henderson in the latest edition of Insider Gaming Weekly podcast gave a new comment about God of War.
Here's What We Know
Henderson reminded us that two games in the franchise are rumoured to be in development:
- a small metroidvania in a Greek setting, whose protagonist will presumably be Kratos' brother Deimos;
- The second project is the larger game, which will take place in Egypt.
Henderson mentioned that along with the change of setting, Kratos' arsenal will also change and he will definitely get a "curved Egyptian sword" - "like Prince of Persia or something like that" - the journalist explained.
His interlocutor speculated that we're talking about a scimitar, but obviously that's a mistake, because apart from being a Turkish weapon, it's practically straight with a slight curve.
Rather, we are talking about a khopesh - a traditional sword of Egyptian warriors, the shape of which resembles a sickle.

We can only guess how true Henderson's information is, but we remind you that when Kratos "moved" to Scandinavia - he also changed his entire arsenal.
