Hyundai Motor has announced a recall in the US for 568,850 Palisade crossovers manufactured from 2020 to 2025. The cause is a defect in the seat belt anchorages, which may not lock securely into place. The problem affects the driver, front passenger and second row side seat belts.

Here's What We Know

According to the NHTSA, in the event of an accident, the belt may not be able to hold the passenger even if the tongue is locked in place. Thus, a key element of the passive safety system fails to perform its function.

Pre-repair recommendation: car owners should carefully check the belt lock - insert the tab all the way in and pull the belt to make sure it is securely latched.

Hyundai will inspect and replace defective units free of charge. Notices to owners will begin to be sent out on 10 November 2025.

In addition, 31,042 2023-2025 Ioniq 6 electric sedans from 2023-2025 are under another recall. They have been found to have a defect in the charging port hatch fastening - the plastic retainers can break and the lid can come off while driving.
