NVIDIA and OpenAI have entered into a strategic partnership that could change the rules of the game in the AI market.

Here's What We Know

As part of the agreement, NVIDIA will provide OpenAI with access to its advanced computing resources, including H100 GPU-based supercomputers, which will enable OpenAI to build AI data centres with a capacity of at least 10 gigawatts using millions of GPUs from the US company.

In addition, NVIDIA intends to gradually invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as each data centre grows in capacity.

This agreement strengthens both companies' position in the global race for leadership in generative AI. OpenAI, known for its GPT language models, needs huge amounts of computing power to train and scale. NVIDIA, for its part, remains a key provider of hardware solutions for AI and gets the opportunity to integrate its technology deeper into the most advanced models.

The collaboration includes not only access to infrastructure, but also joint software optimisation to accelerate the development and deployment of new AI products. This is particularly important against the backdrop of growing competition from Google's DeepMind, Anthropic and Meta.

Details of the agreement will be finalised in the next few weeks, but it is already clear that the alliance between the two tech giants could set the vector for the development of the entire industry in the coming years.
