Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 received the Sonar Messaging feature and allows you to communicate underwater like dolphins
Huawei has introduced Sonar Messaging, a new feature for its premium Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch that allows you to send messages underwater without using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or mobile data. This solution is aimed at divers and rescuers who work in environments where traditional methods of data transmission are not available.
The function works using acoustic signals transmitted through water. The watch generates sound waves that encode short messages that can be received by another compatible Huawei device. This allows you to transmit basic information - for example, "OK", "Problem", "Need help" - without having to go to the surface.
Huawei notes that Sonar Messaging technology does not require preliminary connection between devices - all devices that support this method of communication will be able to receive the signal. The technology uses built-in sensors and algorithms to encode and decode signals. This is the first such implementation in a consumer wearable device.
Sonar Messaging is only available on the Watch Ultimate 2 and is not supported by previous models. It is expected to be useful not only for professional divers, but also for diving enthusiasts, as the watch can withstand a dive of up to 40 metres.
