Google is preparing a MacBook competitor: the company is developing the first Android-powered laptop
A few months ago, Google confirmed that it It's official: Google will merge Chrome OS and Android into a universal operating system that will work equally well on laptops, mobile devices and other gadgets.
The company has yet to announce computers with the new hybrid OS, but it looks like we won't have long to wait for them.
Here's What We Know
The publication Android Authority reported that the company's representatives openly hinted at the development of a laptop based on Android. Such a project during Snapdragon Summit 2025 discussed Google Vice President Rick Osterloh and Cristiano Amon - CEO of Qualcomm.

Rick Osterloh commented on the merger of the two OSes this way:
In the past, we've always had completely different systems for PCs and smartphones. We've launched a project to merge them and together we're building a common technical foundation for our products on PCs and desktops <...> I think this is another way Android can serve everyone in every area of computing.
Information on laptops running the hybrid OS is still extremely scarce, but the editorial team at Android Authority suggests that the first one will be a device codenamed Snowy, likely to be premium-level and positioned as a MacBook competitor.
