There is unexpected news about important personnel changes in the American division of Nintendo: the famous Doug Bowser, who gamers know not only for his effective leadership of the company, but also for his surname, which fully corresponds to the name of the main enemy Mario, resigns.

Here's What We Know

Doug Bowser headed Nintendo of America since 2019, and before that held important positions in the company's management. Under his management, the Japanese company significantly strengthened its position in the Western market and began to actively release successful screen adaptations of its key franchises.

It should not be overlooked that during Bowser's leadership came the release of Nintendo Switch 2, which became the fastest-selling console in the United States.

Bowser will leave the company on 31 December 2025, but the reasons for his decision are being made public. He will be succeeded as head of Nintendo of America by Devon Pritchard, a long-time member of the company's leadership team with 20 years of industry experience.

Leading Nintendo of America is an honour I will cherish for a lifetime, and I'm proud of what our team has achieved, both in terms of business results and the experiences we've delivered to gamers.

It's time for a new generation of leadership, and Devon's track record speaks for itself. She is an outstanding leader and her promotion is a testament to her high performance and strategic contribution to the company. I have every confidence that she will lead Nintendo to even greater heights.

Devon Pritchard commented on her appointment:

'I am honoured and excited to take on this new role. Doug has been a fantastic mentor and I look forward to continuing the endeavour he helped start. My focus will be on continuing to surprise and delight our long-time fans, while welcoming new players into the Nintendo family with characters and worlds that have something to offer for everyone.

Devon Pritchard will not only join the Nintendo of America board of directors, but will also become an executive at Nintendo Co. alongside Satoru Shibata.
