Google has started rolling out a major update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 wireless headphones. Firmware 4.467 brings a number of new features, including Adaptive Audio mode and head gesture control.

Here's What We Know

The main new feature is Adaptive Audio mode, which appears in the noise cancellation control panel alongside Transparency and Off. It automatically adjusts the volume depending on your surroundings, allowing you to listen to music and stay aware of your surroundings at the same time. When activated, it also turns on protection against loud extraneous sounds.

In addition, Pixel Buds Pro 2 now supports head gestures: you can nod to accept a call or reply to a message, or shake your head to reject a call. This feature works thanks to the inbuilt accelerometers and will be available gradually over the next few weeks.

Gemini Live has also been improved - the voice assistant is now better at recognising commands in noisy environments, such as when the TV is on or in a crowd, thanks to advanced background noise cancellation. The feature is available on Pixel 8 and newer smartphones.

The update is rolling out in stages. You can check availability in the Pixel Buds app → More settings → Firmware update.
