The cheapest electric car in Europe has become more powerful and received a new battery
The electric hatchback Dacia Spring has been updated for the fourth time in four years. Now it has an LFP battery, power of up to 100 hp, and faster charging — all at the same price starting from €16,900.
What is known
Dacia Spring, the most affordable new electric car in Europe, has been updated again. Just a year after a comprehensive restyling in 2024.
The main change is a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery instead of the nickel-based one. It is installed in a reinforced body that increases structural rigidity and improves weight distribution. LFP chemistry promises greater durability and less degradation over time.
The capacity of the new battery is 24.3 kWh, which is slightly less than the previous 25 kWh. However, thanks to more efficient electric motors and improved aerodynamics, the range remains the same — 225 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
The maximum power of fast charging has increased from 30 to 40 kW. For such a small battery and low price, this is quite enough. According to Dacia, charging from 20% to 80% at a DC station now takes 29 minutes.
From a regular socket, the 7 kW battery charges from 20% to 100% in 3 hours and 20 minutes instead of the previous four hours. From a home socket — in 10 hours and 11 minutes.

Honestly weak versions of the engines with 45 and 65 hp have gone into the past. Now there are two new versions available: 70 and 100 hp. This is a huge increase that should make the Spring a more nimble car.
Three configurations
The interior remains unchanged: a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Android Automotive OS, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The large display comes in the top version; for the basic version, it is an option.
- Essential — 70 hp motor, 7-inch instrument panel, power steering, cruise control, front power windows, rear parking sensors. No air conditioning, and instead of a multimedia system, you can use a smartphone with the Dacia app.
- Expression — air conditioning and 15-inch wheels are added.
- Extreme — electric mirrors, rear power windows, 10.1-inch screen, two USB ports, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, a more powerful motor with 100 hp.
Regardless of the version, the Spring costs less than €20,000.
