Tomorrow, on October 10th, the horror-platformer Little Nightmares 3 will be released. This series is memorable to gamers for its unusual style and mesmerizing atmosphere of grotesque horror, but many feared that the change of developers (Supermassive Games instead of Tarsier Studios) would negatively affect the third installment, and it seems the skeptics were right.

What is known

Critics have published their reviews of Little Nightmares 3, indicating that the new release has become the worst part of the series, a statement corroborated by scores on aggregators. As of the writing of this material, the game has 73 points on Opencritic and Metacritic for console versions, with 66% recommendations, while the situation on PC is quite sad — 63 points. For comparison, the first part of Little Nightmares received 78 points, and its sequel — 82.

However, the detailed reviews turned out to be not so categorical. Most experts agree that Little Nightmares III is a great cooperative game with interesting puzzles and atmospheric locations, but almost every element is secondary, as gamers have seen them before. The developers clearly hesitated to make serious changes and limited themselves in creative ideas, which led to stagnation of the franchise and self-repetition, despite the change of developers.

The situation is compounded by the fact that the game has boring early levels, and the platforming can sometimes be frustrating, however, in the second half, Little Nightmares 3 opens up and delights with interesting gameplay, but there is a chance that few players will endure the bland beginning and not abandon the playthrough.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, and both Nintendo Switch.
