One day before the release of Battlefield 6, critics shared their opinions on the ambitious network shooter developed by five studios under Electronic Arts.

What is known

The developers stated that they took into account the criticism of Battlefield 2042 and made every effort to ensure that the new shooter would be a worthy continuation of what was once an exemplary series.

Reviews from industry journalists confirm that Battlefield 6 has turned out to be an excellent network shooter. Many experts focused on the single-player campaign in their reviews, but it is secondary and should only serve as a warm-up for players before the “main dish” — massive online battles.

The single-player campaign is spectacular, flashy, and short (about 5 hours). It doesn’t offer anything new, but fully utilizes the modern capabilities of gaming platforms and showcases large moments that, however, are too brief to remain memorable for long.

As for multiplayer, it is executed at a high level in Battlefield 6 and is close to the most successful parts of the series. Players are offered soldiers of four classes, each with individual advantages and assigned weapons, but in one of the modes, there is the option to freely select equipment regardless of class.

The developers added several innovations, such as the ability to run in a crouched position and drag the bodies of wounded soldiers for their further return to the fight, but they maintained the familiar Battlefield 6 formula with battles involving 64 players.

Regarding destructibility, which is one of the key features of the series, it, as one critic put it, isn’t far from Battlefield 3, but overall it performs its function and adds epicness to the battles.

In technical terms, the game is executed at a high level and demonstrates excellent performance on almost any PC.

As a result, Battlefield 6 received high ratings on aggregators:

  • 84 points — Opencritic, with 92% recommendation;
  • 84 points — Metacritic, PlayStation 5 version;
  • 84 points — Metacritic, PC version;
  • 88 points — Metacritic, Xbox Series version.

Thus, Battlefield 6 did not manage to become the best game in the series, as Battlefield 1 received an average of 88 points on Metacritic, and Battlefield 3 — 89 points, while the newcomer confidently outperformed Battlefield 2042 with its 68 points.
