21st Century Rubik's Cube: Pre-orders Open for Unusual WOWCube Gadget with 24 Moving LCD Displays
Cubios, in collaboration with Spin Master, has launched a pre-order for the innovative gaming gadget Rubik’s WOWCube, which combines the concept of the classic Rubik's Cube with the capabilities of a modern multimedia gadget.
What is WOWCube
WOWCube is a 2×2 cube consisting of eight modules, each equipped with three LCD screens. A total of 24 displays on the device show dynamic content. The cube reacts to tilts, shakes, and taps, turning physical interaction into gameplay.
Through a mobile application, users can access the WOWCube store, where the following are already available (both paid and free):
- Cut the Rope;
- 2048;
- Space Invaders;
- widgets, timers, and screensavers.
Games are loaded via Bluetooth, and developers can create their own applications thanks to the open SDK. The device is certified by STEM.org as an educational tool.
Besides gaming applications, WOWCube can display useful widgets: Weather, Calendar, Time and timers, Stock quotes, Notifications, Animations, and screensavers (decorative visual effects when the cube is not in use). Widgets can be personalized.
