The Japanese automaker hinted at a radical design change for one of its best-selling models. The Corolla might even become an electric vehicle.

What is known

Toyota shared new details about its lineup for the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025. In the spotlight is a new concept that seemingly heralds a new chapter in the history of one of the brand’s best-selling and most well-known cars – the Corolla.

The concept first appeared in a teaser campaign called "To You, Toyota", setting the tone for a full debut in Tokyo at the end of the month. At first glance, it bears little resemblance to the current 12th generation Corolla. The car features sleek modern lines and proportions more fitting for an electric vehicle.

From the front, the concept vaguely resembles the current Prius, with a thin LED strip added across the bumper. The front fenders appear to house a charging port. Other features include a descending window line, sculpted side panels, and conventional door handles. All of this is complemented by a "duck tail" spoiler and pixelated graphics on the taillights.

The Japan Mobility Show begins on October 30.?If the concept indeed foretells the future of the Corolla, it could be the most radical transformation of the model in decades.
