Oppo released ColorOS 16 and announced the list of updates for Oppo and OnePlus smartphones for the next six months
Oppo introduced ColorOS 16 — a new version of the proprietary shell based on Android 16, which debuted in China under the slogan "Smart & Smooth." The update focuses on smoothness, performance, artificial intelligence, and cross-platform integration.
ColorOS 16 received a new Seamless Animation system that provides an instant response to user actions. Animations start from the touch point and smoothly return, creating a unified visual logic. It is based on four engines: Luminous Rendering Engine, Trinity Engine, Aurora Engine, and Tide Engine. The latter ensures 37% higher stability, a reduction in temperature by 4.1°C, and 13% less energy consumption.
AI features include One-Tap Flash Note — instant capture of documents, images, codes, bills, videos. Videos can be structured into chapters, and voice notes can be turned into tasks. Automatic expense saving, batch image capture from posts and articles have been added. The Xiaobu AI engine offers personalized updates, recommendations, voice interactions, improved portrait processing, and productivity tools: AI Recording, AI Writing, AI Notes, AI Calendar.
The interface received a nature-inspired design — with blur, glow, and particle effects. Users can create themes with AI, turn static images into live wallpapers, change the size of icons, cards, folders, and automatically match icon colors with the wallpaper tone.
The photo editor features AI Portrait Glow, AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Remover. The video editor Master Cut allows trimming, speed changes, adding music, filters, and manual parameter adjustments. Collections of photos of people and pets, live collages, and slow-motion effects have been added.
For cross-device integration, ColorOS 16 offers O+ Connect (file management on Mac and Windows), Screen Mirroring (stream up to 5 apps to a computer), One-Tap Share (quick content transfer), health data synchronization—even with Apple Watch.
Other features include window cloning, a smart sidebar, a customized control center, Xiaobu screen recognition, voice control in car, AI Summary for obtaining key theses from texts, videos, and audio.
The global launch of ColorOS 16 will start with the Find X9 series.
