Not cheaper, but now with M5: Apple introduced an updated mixed reality headset Vision Pro
Apple announced an updated version of the augmented reality headset Vision Pro, which features the flagship M5 chipset, improved displays, and a lightweight Dual Knit Band strap.
The update did not become a full second generation but significantly enhanced performance, autonomy, and usability.
Что известно
The main feature of the updated model is the M5 chip. The new processor is built on the third-generation 3-nanometer process, includes a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU with support for hardware ray tracing.
Compared to the previous M2, it boosts performance up to 40%, energy efficiency by 20%, and the speed of processing AI tasks, thanks to the 16-core Neural Engine, has increased by 50%.
The M5 is complemented by the specially designed R1 chip, which processes input from 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones.
The Micro-OLED displays of the Vision Pro M5 have become 10% clearer and brighter, with the refresh rate increased from 100 to 120 Hz. The headset's battery life has been increased to 2.5 hours, and up to 3 hours when watching videos.
Customers are offered configurations with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of built-in storage. Apple has also provided a new Dual Knit Band strap, which ensures more even weight distribution and comfort for extended use.
The headset runs on visionOS 26 with support for new spatial applications, improved multitasking, and integration with Apple Immersive Video. The updated model also makes working with professional tools — from 3D modeling to editing video in space — more convenient and efficient.
Release Date and Price
The Vision Pro M5 will go on sale on October 22 at a starting price of $3499. Pre-orders are already open.
