The Realme GT 8 series will debut in China next week. The company collaborates with the photo brand Ricoh Imaging for the first time. Realme decided to change not only the camera's "hardware" but also developed a modular design of the external camera unit — users will be able to change the appearance thanks to interchangeable decorative modules. Before the announcement, many images with various available options and their replacement mechanism were published.

The camera block itself is attached using two Torx screws on the sides, as well as magnets, allowing you to quickly install the module in place and then secure it with screws. Realme has already shown several design options: square, round, and styled as a "robot," each with different materials and color options.

It is still unknown whether Realme will be the sole manufacturer of such modules or if third-party companies will join the process. It also remains unclear whether such a design will simplify device repair, as modularity is often associated with better repairability.

Another interesting detail is the new GT 8 Pro rear panel, which will be made from recycled eco-leather resembling paper. According to the manufacturer, the material has high wear and corrosion resistance, with a thickness of only 0.02 mm — extremely thin, especially for smartphones with premium finishes.
