Microsoft and ASUS have launched global sales of the portable gaming consoles ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, which will challenge the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go 2, and other similar gadgets.

What is Known

ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are available in 45 countries worldwide, but the sales geography will expand.

Microsoft is not holding back on bold statements and called the launch of ROG Xbox Ally "the beginning of a new era of portable gaming."

These portable devices combine the Xbox experience and the freedom of Windows, allowing you to play anywhere and anytime.

For us at Xbox, success is measured not by sales, but by the time players spend with us. That's why the portable Xbox Ally systems are designed to make this time as comfortable, flexible, and enjoyable as possible. Now your entire Xbox world is always at hand—your game library, achievements, friends, and progress follow you. For the first time, all games from different launchers are available on one device. Whether you want to play locally, stream from your console, or from the cloud—the choice is yours.

This launch is the result of many people's collaborative effort—from players, whose feedback helped shape the device, to developers, whose games make it truly valuable. This is not just the release of a new product—it is a celebration of joint creativity and an example of what can be achieved together. The future of portable gaming is already here—it is based on the freedom provided by Windows and the energy brought by Xbox.

Let's recall, the devices run on Windows 11 Home with a redesigned Xbox App that unites libraries from Steam, Epic Games Store, GoG, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and other platforms. The gadget runs games natively or in the cloud, and also allows game streaming from the home Xbox console and is positioned as a great acquisition for Game Pass subscribers.

Both models are integrated with the AI assistant Copilot for Gaming, and the senior model ROG Xbox Ally X offers enhanced sticks and triggers with tactile feedback.

The basic ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, providing an optimal balance between performance and battery life. The X model received a powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chipset, which gives higher frame rates and improved graphics.

Both models were released without OLED screens—ASUS focused on VRR and reduced power consumption to avoid inflating the gadget prices.

Console Prices:

  • € 599 — standard ROG Xbox Ally version;
  • € 899 — more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X model.
