Ford Mustang Mach-E received the iconic California Special styling package
California Special is one of the oldest additions in Mustang's long history. Ford first offered this visual upgrade back in 1968 and revived it after a break in the 2000s.
What's known
Bad news: Ford canceled the California Special package for the regular Mustang 2026 model year. Good news: the set will be available for the electric Ford Mustang Mach-E GT.
As with other Mustang California Special cars, this is purely a visual upgrade. It starts with blue trim - specifically, Rave Blue color for the emblems, including the galloping horse on the front grille. You will also see hints of blue among the sea of black and gray on the hood, where Ford added a wide single stripe, "inspired by the California coast."
Where this inspiration came from is not entirely clear, but the California Special inscription in blue on a black background does look stylish. These words are also on the GT badge at the back, although they are not so easy to discern there.
On the 20-inch gray wheels, there is a small GT/CS inscription at the end of one of the spokes. The interior is in blue-silver tones with an additional GT/CS stamp embossed on the central armrest, completing the package.
Otherwise, it's a standard Mach-E GT. This means a dual-motor powertrain producing a total of 480 hp and over 950 Nm of torque. The useful battery capacity is 91 kWh, providing approximately 450 km of range.
Ford states the California Special package will cost $2,495 on top of the Mach-E GT base price of $53,395. The standard Mach-E 2026 starts at $37,795. Orders open on October 22nd, with deliveries beginning in the first quarter of 2026.
