Toyota has officially unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ SUV, also known as the "Baby Land Cruiser". Sales of the model in Japan will begin around the middle of 2026. It will also appear in other global markets.

What is known

Up until now, the Land Cruiser range consisted of three separate series. The Station Wagon always showcases the latest technology and represents the flagship model (currently the 300 series). The Heavy-Duty model with exceptional durability and ease of maintenance (70 series). The basic Land Cruiser model, created in 2024 as a "return to roots" — a simple, durable everyday car (250 series).

Now a third model is in the lineup. It is still a full-frame SUV, although smaller than its "older brothers." The wheelbase of 2657 mm is even shorter than the outgoing generation of the RAV4 crossover, although it is not inferior in height to the 250 series, and the spare wheel proudly hangs on the rear door.

The new SUV debuted with two front-end design options: with classic round headlights and modern flat ones. Toyota claims that the Land Cruiser FJ boasts the same wheel articulation as the legendary Cruiser 70 series, meaning it will handle rough terrain excellently. By the way, the turning radius is only 5.5 meters.

In Japan, the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be available with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine 2TR-FE producing 120 kW (163 hp) and 246 Nm of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed "automatic," and the drive is part-time 4WD.
