Critics and gamers are pleased with Ninja Gaiden 4 — PlatinumGames once again impressed with a cool combat system
The release of the hardcore slasher Ninja Gaiden 4 has taken place. The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, and is also featured in the Game Pass catalog.
Simultaneously with the release, reviews from critics were published, which provide insight into how successful the return of the once-popular series was.
What is known
In addition to the authors of previous Ninja Gaiden parts from Team Ninja, experts in creating dynamic and challenging action games from PlatinumGames participated in the development. Critics noted that such cooperation between the two Japanese studios benefited the game, as in Ninja Gaiden 4, the primary praise is for the elements created by PlatinumGames — complex, spectacular, and intense battles, a large number of abilities and weapons, ways to deal with enemies, brutal and diverse animations, constant gameplay mechanic changes, and overall drive.
On the other hand, what was in the responsibility of Team Ninja turned out to be ambiguous: the plot is called boring and predictable, the dialogues uninteresting, and the characters — strange. The public did not warmly receive the new protagonist, and the episodes with the appearance of Ryu Hayabusa don't always seem appropriate.
As a result, Ninja Gaiden 4 received quite good ratings on aggregators:
- Metacritic — 81-83 points depending on the platform;
- OpenCritic — 82 points with 88% recommendations.
Gamers were more favorable to Ninja Gaiden 4, and at the time of writing, the game has 86% positive reviews on Steam.
Recall that the game's events unfold in a futuristic Tokyo, and two main characters come into focus: the long-familiar Ryu Hayabusa from the series joins a young ninja master Yakumo from the rival Raven clan. Together, they will fight against the Dark Dragon's stain, and even a large number of powerful enemies will not stop them on this path.
