The Ukrainian studio Frogwares announced the delay of the release of the ambitious horror The Sinking City 2, which the developers previously called “a turning point in their careers”.

What's known

The company reported encountering significant difficulties in the development of The Sinking City 2, and to offer fans a game of a worthy level, they are forced to postpone its release.

The release was initially planned for the end of 2025, but now the authors are focused on releasing the game in the first half of 2026 and thank the gamers for their understanding and support.

The transition to the genre itself became a completely new challenge for us. We have been making detective adventure games for over twenty years, but survival horror requires a completely different approach to design… As fans, we have always loved this genre, but as soon as you start creating it yourself, you realize how much needs to be done. It is exciting, but definitely slows down the development.

To demonstrate the results of the work already done, Frogwares published a selection of screenshots of the current version of The Sinking City 2, on which the game looks significantly better than the original (all 13 screenshots can be viewed on Steam).

To recall, The Sinking City 2 will be a direct sequel to the 2019 horror, based on the stories of Howard F. Lovecraft about indescribable creatures from the depths and beings from distant space.

The events will unfold in the town of Arkham in the 1920s, filled with nightmares that bizarrely intertwine with the everyday life of the townspeople.
