A tech enthusiast created a whimsical smartphone case that looks like a metal ingot. It weighs about 6 pounds, or roughly 2.7 kilograms. This case is not intended for everyday use — on the contrary, it was conceived as a deliberately inconvenient and absurd accessory that showcases the limits of engineering fantasy and irony over modern trends in gadget protection.

The case consists of two parts connected by screws, so it's impossible to put it on and take it off without special tools. The screen is framed by huge protruding blocks at the top and bottom, so the likelihood of dropping the heavy construction screen down is minimal.

The case was created for the iPhone, but due to its dimensions and weight, it resembles an engineering art object rather than a practical accessory. On the contrary, because of its size and weight, the desire not only to carry the smartphone everywhere with you but also to hold it in your hands to scroll through social networks disappears. However, it performs its function — if you drop the smartphone on a concrete floor, you should worry about the floor's integrity.

Currently, the author is raising $75,000 to release a commercial batch of the smartphone.
