SSU showed a new generation of Sea Baby marine drones: now with a machine gun and MLRS (video)
The Security Service of Ukraine for the first time showed an updated version of its legendary Sea Baby marine drones - these are the same crewless platforms that have repeatedly attacked objects of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. The new drones have already been tested in real combat missions, including during the third strike on the Crimean bridge on June 3, 2025.
The SSU development team showed two types of new marine drones: one equipped with a gyro-stabilized machine gun mount with an automatic target capture and recognition system;

According to one of the heads of the SSU's military counter-intelligence, who supervises the activities of the 13th Main Directorate of the DTCI "Hunter", the updated Sea Baby have:
- a range of over 1500 km,
- a payload capacity of up to 2000 kg,
- reinforced engines and a modern navigation system.
During the attack on the Crimean bridge, drones delivered explosives directly under the supports of the structure, ensuring a precise hit.
The head of the SSU, Vasyl Malyuk, added:
Our drones have changed the balance of power in the Black Sea and have proven their effectiveness. The new generation of “Sea Baby” is even more efficient. The work of clearing the Black Sea of the Russian fleet will continue
The new modifications were created with funds from Ukrainians, collected through the UNITED24 fundraising platform. The SSU emphasizes that work on technological solutions is ongoing — other types of marine crewless platforms are also in development, but their characteristics remain classified.
About Sea Baby
The Sea Baby is a Ukrainian marine drone developed by the Security Service of Ukraine for combat operations in the Black Sea. It was first used in 2023 during attacks on Russian ships and the Crimean bridge. At the time, it was capable of carrying up to 850 kg of explosives. The Sea Baby can autonomously cover more than 1500 km and is equipped with navigation systems, autopilot, and reconnaissance tools. The name "Sea Baby" alludes to the surname of SSU head Vasyl Malyuk ("Malyuk" means "baby" or "child" in Ukrainian), emphasizing a symbolic connection with the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine.
