CEO of Remedy Entertainment Tero Virtala has left his position
The Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment announced a major change in the company's leadership. The position of CEO has been vacated by Tero Virtala.
What's known
Tero Virtala has effectively led Remedy since 2016. During his leadership, the studio entered the "major league" of developers, became the sole owner of the rights to its franchises Control and Alan Wake, gained financial stability, and laid a solid foundation for the future. Since 2016, Remedy has released: Control, Alan Wake Remastered, the single-player campaign for the shooter CrossfireX, the Alan Wake sequel and two expansions for it, as well as the co-op shooter FBC: Firebreak, which was deemed a failure.
It is no secret that the failure of the experimental game prompted Remedy to change its leader, although the studio does not officially state the reason for Virtala's departure. He will remain in the leadership of Remedy for a while, but Markus Mäki, one of the studio's co-founders, will act as CEO.
As a reminder, Remedy is currently working Remedy has revealed progress on the Max Payne 1&2 remake, Control 2 and a shooter codenamed Condor.
