Bloomberg: Advertising to appear in Apple Maps in 2026
Renowned insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman continues to share Apple's plans, but this time his information will disappoint Apple Maps app users.
What is known
In his article on Bloomberg's pages, Mark Gurman stated that Apple has not abandoned its plans to implement advertising banners in its “Maps”.
The company first talked about this possibility in 2022, but so far, fortunately for users, they have not received ads, but by 2026 this will change.
It is expected that various restaurants, shops, fast food chains, and different companies will be able to pay for advertising listings in the “Maps” search. The advertising will be targeted and depend on the user's requests, with a special AI ensuring its relevance. The system will be similar to Search Ads in the App Store, where developers pay to promote their games and apps in a slot based on user requests.
Mark Gurman reasonably noted that it is unlikely that owners of already expensive Apple gadgets will be pleased with being annoyed by additional advertising.
