Elon Musk and xAI launch beta version of Grokipedia — a controversial competitor to Wikipedia
Elon Musk and the company xAI announced the launch of the first beta version of Grokipedia — an alternative to Wikipedia with a focus on AI usage.

Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.
What is known
Grokipedia, as previously stated by Musk — is a resource with more liberal rules than Wikipedia and without strict adherence to information sources.
The platform is publicly available in version v0.1 and can be tried for free in a browser.
The Grokipedia main page is absolutely unlike Wikipedia and features a large search bar.
Currently, the database of the new encyclopedia contains about 885,000 articles in English and is still available without images.
Users cannot change the content of articles, although some materials have an “Edit” button, but it is currently non-functional.
One of the most concerning aspects of Grokipedia is that the accuracy of facts will essentially be verified only by the Grok AI, and neural networks, as is known, often distort facts and sometimes even invent non-existent information.
Ironically, although Grokipedia positions itself as a “platform that is already ten times better than Wikipedia,” many articles on the new site are slightly modified versions of materials from Wikipedia. For example, The Verge noted this in articles about MacBook Air, PlayStation 5, and Lincoln Mark VIII, where it is stated at the end that “the material was adapted from Wikipedia”.
In the near future, xAI will actively improve Grokipedia, but there are many questions about its fundamental operating principles, which are unlikely to be changed.
