Toyota presented the new Corolla at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and confirmed that the next generation of the model will be available with "all possible" powertrains, including battery-electric ones.

What We Know

The car shown in Tokyo is a concept car close to the future production version. Toyota designer Lance Scott stated during the presentation that a global model like the Corolla cannot be limited to one type of powertrain. Therefore, the next generation will be available with internal combustion engines, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, a fully electric power unit, and will also be able to run on carbon-neutral fuel.

The model's design language was developed in Europe. The focus is on clean lines and modern trends. The interior looks bright and minimalist, with large windows, multiple displays, touch buttons on the steering wheel, and a thin center console. Despite the more refined interior, Toyota does not plan to elevate the model's class — the Corolla remains a competitor to the VW Golf, and in the future, the ID.3.

Toyota has not yet announced the launch dates for the new Corolla on the market. The current E210 series model was introduced in 2018 (2019 in Europe) and is approaching the end of its lifecycle. Theoretically, the new generation could appear as early as 2026.
