Lexar released the portable SSD Air pSSD in China weighing 19 grams
Lexar has released the portable solid-state drive Lexar Air pSSD in China. The device has a thickness of 6 mm at the thinnest part and weighs 19 grams. It is aimed at users who need mobile storage for quick data access.
What is known
The drive is available in 512 GB and 1 TB variants. The cost of the 1 TB model is 459 yuan (approximately 64 USD). The 512 GB version is not yet on sale.
Lexar Air is equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbit/s) interface, has a USB-C port, and comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Declared speeds: up to 390 MB/s for reading and up to 400 MB/s for writing.
The drive's housing is up to 9.3 mm thick, has a strap hole, and is drop resistant from heights up to 2 meters. Available in two colors: lime green and black.
A single-chip controller is used, contributing to reduced power consumption and optimized heat dissipation. The device maintains a stable data transfer rate for an extended period without additional cooling.
Lexar offers support for Air pSSD through a mobile app designed for backing up data on iPhone and Android devices. It allows for automatic backup of photos and videos, real-time data synchronization, restoration of images in full quality, and is fully compatible with the iPhone Live Photos feature. This enables users to quickly transfer large media libraries from their smartphones.
Lexar Air is compatible with macOS 14+, Windows 7/8/10/11, Android 10+, and iOS 17+. A one-time free data recovery service is provided during the three-year warranty period.
