The Swedish electric car brand Polestar is the first in the industry to integrate Google Maps' live lane guidance feature into the digital instrument panel of its cars.

What is known

In the coming months, this innovation will be available on the Polestar 4 model in the United States and Sweden. The system uses artificial intelligence to analyze road markings and signs. It receives data from the front camera, displays lane layouts directly on the 10.2-inch display in front of the driver, and provides visual and audio alerts if a lane change is needed.

According to Polestar's head of UI/UX, Sid Odedra, over the past five years, the collaboration between Polestar and Google has brought numerous innovations to the brand's car owners. The "live lane guidance" feature is aimed at driver convenience and safety, reducing stress behind the wheel and minimizing the risks of missing necessary highway exits or making sharp maneuvers at the last second.

The update will be available over-the-air (OTA) and will gradually cover more markets and types of roads. All Polestar 4 cars with Google built-in will automatically receive the new feature.
