Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced during the annual shareholder meeting that production of the Cybercab will begin at the Gigafactory Texas in April 2026.

What is known about the Cybercab

The Cybercab is a two-door coupe presented at last year's "We, Robot" event. It will feature the same computers and sensors as Tesla's current "Full Self Driving" (FSD) system for the Model 3 and Model Y, but this time it is expected to be fully autonomous. According to Musk, the Cybercab will have neither pedals nor a steering wheel. However, this will largely depend on federal and local regulations in the USA.

The company previously stated that, although the basic software of the Cybercab will remain the same, its production will be significantly different. Tesla plans to use a new "Unboxed" process instead of the traditional assembly line, where different parts of the car are assembled separately and then turned into a car at the final stage.

Musk compared this production process to manufacturing consumer electronics, pointing to the high pace of finished goods output. He added that Tesla theoretically could produce up to 5 million cars a year, although, as history has repeatedly shown, Musk's forecasts should be taken with a large grain of skepticism.
