Samsung may introduce new facial recognition technology in Galaxy S27 Ultra
Samsung may introduce new biometric authentication technology in the Galaxy S27 Ultra smartphone. According to rumors, a reference to a system called Polar ID v1.0, which operates based on polarized light, was found in early test software of the device. The information was leaked by user @SPYGO19726 on the social network X.
What is known?
According to the report, the system is associated with the front sensor ISOCELL Vizion and a new secure procedure called BIO-Fusion Core. It is reported that the facial recognition mechanism ensures an unlocking time of about 180 ms and enhanced spoofing protection.
As noted, Polar ID uses the skin polarization signature to create an accurate image. This allows the system to operate in different lighting conditions, as well as with a mask or sunglasses on the user's face.
It is worth noting that there is currently no official confirmation. The release of the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected no earlier than 2027, while Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
