Bloomberg: not all MacBook Pro models will receive OLED panels, touch screens and updated design
It is expected that at the end of 2026 or early 2027, Apple will switch MacBook Pro to OLED displays, which users of flagship laptops have long wanted.
However, there is now information that not all MacBook Pro models will undergo the long-awaited update.
What is known
In a new edition of the weekly news digest Power On, the reputable insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that only MacBook Pro models with M6 Pro and M6 Max chips will receive OLED panels, touchscreen, Dynamic Island, and an updated design.
Thus, the basic model will remain almost identical to previous versions, with a miniLED screen, but with increased technical specifications and computing power.
According to insider information, Apple will first release the basic MacBook Pro — this is expected at the end of 2026, and the improved models on M6 Pro and M6 Max will go on sale a little later.
It is worth noting that there is nothing new in such a strategy for Apple, for example, the top MacBook Pro Touch Bar appeared in 2016, and on the basic MacBook Pro — only in 2019.
