Google replaces Assistant with Gemini on Google TV Streamer
Google begins rolling out Gemini for Google TV Streamer, which will gradually replace Google Assistant. Users will be able to interact with the TV using their voice.
What is known
The company notes that interaction with the device will become similar to a regular conversation. For example, you can request movie recommendations in the style of: "I love dramas, and my wife loves comedies, what movie should we watch together?" Requests like: "What new medical drama is popular now?" are also available.
Gemini works not only for entertainment. Users can ask questions just like on smartphones with Gemini: "Explain to a third grader why do volcanoes erupt" or "Show how to make a shelf with your own hands," and receive instructions via a video on YouTube.
To use Gemini, press the microphone button on the remote. The update will be available within a few weeks for users aged 18 and older.
Gemini for Google TV was first introduced at CES in January. In September, the feature became available on some TCL models. Additionally, support for Gemini is implemented on the Walmart Onn 4K Pro media player. In 2025, its appearance is expected on new models Hisense U7, U8, UX and TCL QM7K, QM8K, X11K.
