Rumors about a significant reduction in the thickness of the new Samsung smartphones have stirred anticipation among brand fans. Especially after the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which indeed demonstrated progress towards compactness. But fresh information indicates the opposite for the base model of the next-generation Galaxy S26.

What is known

The publication AndroidHeadlines published dimensions that supposedly correspond to the final prototype of the Galaxy S26: 149.5 x 71.6 x 7.24 mm. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 has almost identical parameters – 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm. Changes in height and width are minimal, and the thickness has practically not changed.

Sources also claim that the camera bump in the S26 may be larger than its predecessor. This contradicts previous leaks, which mentioned an extremely thin version of the device with a thickness of only 6.9 mm and support for the new Qi2 wireless charging standard.

This was likely one of the early prototypes, and now the company is finalizing the design before starting mass production. The date of the official announcement has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected that the presentation will take place at the end of January, and sales will start in February 2026.
