Apple's experiment with releasing the ultra-thin iPhone Air is hard to consider successful, as the product showed weak sales and did not meet the company's expectations in all markets except the Chinese one.

A few days ago, an insider reported that the Insider: The next ultra-thin iPhone Air will get a second camera. It was expected that the ultra-thin smartphone would be released in the fall of 2026, but Apple’s plans have somewhat changed.

What is known

The reputable publication The Information reported that Apple has informed engineers and suppliers about the indefinite postponement of the iPhone Air 2's release.

… one of the sources indicated that Apple might release a second-generation iPhone Air, but in the spring of 2027 along with the standard iPhone 18 and the budget iPhone 18e.

According to journalists, the updated Air will be thinner and lighter than the first generation, will also receive a higher-capacity battery, and will be equipped with a vapor cooling chamber, like the iPhone 17 Pro, and, as reported by the Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, will have an additional sensor.

All these innovations should make the iPhone Air 2 more attractive than the first model, especially concerning the increased autonomy, which is critically low for all Apple smartphones compared to most Android gadgets.
