Google launches Private AI Compute — a cloud AI platform with maximum data protection
Google introduced Private AI Compute — a cloud platform that combines the power of Gemini models with robust protection of user data. The new service allows the execution of complex artificial intelligence tasks in the cloud while maintaining privacy comparable to local processing.
What makes Private AI Compute unique?
Private AI Compute is a protected environment in which user data is processed without access from Google or other participants. The platform uses hardware technologies like Titanium Intelligence Enclaves and encryption of data during processing to ensure that information remains private.
Unlike traditional cloud solutions, where data might be accessible to platform operators, Private AI Compute provides server-level isolation, making it impossible for even Google engineers to access the data.
How does it work?
Processing occurs on specialized servers with Tensor Processing Units (TPU).
All computations are performed in hardware-secured containers, which do not transmit data beyond the trusted environment.
User requests, such as transcription, text generation, or image analysis, are handled using Gemini models without any information leakage.
Initially, Private AI Compute will be used in Magic Cue — a context-aware assistant that works with data from "Calendar," "Messages," Gmail, "Photos," and other services.
Integration with Pixel and Android
Private AI Compute is already used in Pixel smartphones, for example, in the Recorder app, which can now automatically create brief summaries of audio recordings using cloud models without compromising privacy.
Google also plans integration with other Android services, including voice assistants and personalized recommendations, all while maintaining strict data protection.
