Nissan has started testing the new electric Juke on public roads. Sales of the production model are expected to start next year.

What is known

The new Nissan Juke EV will be assembled at Nissan Motor's plant in Sunderland, UK. The new model is technically close to the Nissan Leaf, which in its third generation has transformed from a hatchback into a crossover. Its length is 4350 mm, which is very similar to the size of the Juke. This raises the question of how this duo will differ from the buyer's perspective.

Nissan CPO Guillaume Cartier told Autocar that the electric Juke will be very different in design from other models in the brand. He added that for some it will be a "wow car," while others will say they would never choose a model with such a style.

The Juke EV is built on the same CMF-BEV platform as the Leaf. Therefore, the same batteries and engines can be expected. The maximum range is likely to exceed 560 km, and engine power will reach 214 hp.

Previously, Nissan representatives stated that the price of the new Juke EV will be about the same as the gasoline version of the current model. In the UK, this is around 21,000 pounds sterling (23,792 euros).

As for the regular Nissan Juke with an internal combustion engine, it will continue to be produced alongside the new electric model.
