Mercedes-AMG is forced to stop the production of several of its loudest models due to new noise level regulations that will come into effect in the summer of 2026.

What is known

According to internal correspondence from Mercedes-Benz published in the German media, the tightened requirements for external noise UN-R51.03 "Phase 3" will come into effect on July 1, 2026. This means the end of production for the AMG C43 4Matic, GLC43 4Matic, and GLA35 4Matic models — their production will cease as early as February 2026. The more powerful C63 SE Performance and GLC63 SE Performance will remain on the market until May.

Only the GLA45 S 4Matic+ will survive, and orders for it are still being accepted without restrictions. Fortunately for AMG fans, most of the departing models are equipped with four-cylinder engines, and the eight-cylinder AMGs will remain in the lineup at least until the facelift of the SL and the arrival of new generations.

To compensate for the losses, the brand is preparing the "largest product offensive" in history — a lineup of hybrids and electric cars on the AMG.EA platform. Even for "quiet" electric cars, AMG engineers have prepared an artificial imitation of the V8 sound, so drivers don't miss the roar of the engines.
