Insider: The flagship Samsung Galaxy S26 series presentation will take place at the end of February 2026. A huge amount of insider information, rumors, and renders have already been received about them, and most of them suggest that the Korean manufacturer will not offer buyers anything unique and radically new.

And now one of the reasons why Samsung is gradually losing ground to both its main competitor — Apple, and numerous Android smartphone manufacturers has become known.

What is known

A South Korean analyst under the nickname Jukan reported that Samsung intentionally slowed down the development of its smartphones to keep their cost at the same level. He explained that the company planned to increase the capacity of smartphone batteries and at the same time make them even thinner — and in this, Samsung achieved significant success, but abandoned the idea due to Apple.

The fact is that in September, the American company released the iPhone 17, whose base model received significant improvements in performance, while maintaining the price of $799, similar to the 2024 smartphone. Samsung realized that it was not ready to reduce the price while increasing the costs of research and production of batteries, and if smartphones became more expensive, they would be uncompetitive.

As a result, the company reverted to a 4300 mAh battery in the standard model of 2026, although it planned for 4900 mAh. And the flagship S26 Ultra will receive a standard 5000 mAh battery, which is extremely low for a device of this class.
