Volkswagen electric cars finally get access to Tesla Supercharger stations
Volkswagen has finally given electric car owners in America the opportunity to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations. After almost a year of delays, the launch is scheduled for November 18.
What is known
From the specified date, owners of Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.Buzz models in the US and Canada will be able to use more than 25,000 Tesla Supercharger stations, which is especially relevant for the start of the holiday travel season.
To connect to the station, an NACS adapter will be required, which is sold at Volkswagen dealers or on the manufacturer's website for 200 USD or 304 Canadian dollars. The adapter is intended only for fast DC charging and does not work with Level 2 chargers, such as the Tesla Destination Charger.
VW ID.4 and ID.Buzz 2025 owners are entitled to a $100 refund when purchasing the adapter by July 15, 2026, and apply within 90 days. Starting in 2026, all Volkswagen electric cars will be equipped with the adapter by default.
Like users of other brands, VW owners can now use the Tesla app to find compatible charging stations (although not all older stations are available for non-Tesla vehicles) and pay for charging. Additionally, up-to-date information about Tesla Supercharger charges is now uploaded in Google Maps.
